Oh come on!

The thieves have struck again! The nerve they have! Now, last time I wrote a little note directly on the jar that explicitly told them to "Fuck off" (see picture for method of execution). This note obviously only provoked them more, and now less than half the jar is left.

I have taken demonstrative action, and removed the peanut butter jar from the kitchen. It will now sit safely on my desk until emptied by me (unless the thieves actually go into my room for further provocation. You never know).

The next time the thieves go into my kitchen cupboard however, they will find this note waiting for them:
Haha! I have cut them off at the source!

Improv rolls

I've become a bit of a fan of slightly more improvisation when it comes to cooking. Not that I make up fantastic new recipes or anything like it, but it's nice when you can use only what you already have in you kitchen, instead of having to run off to the shops because you're missing a cup of something.

Today it was rolls, or scone like thingies. And I must say, they turned out quite well! Pleasantly surprised there. Only thing was that I added too much salt, but it worked as long as a used sweet spreads, such as banana or jam.

So, what I did was: Mix together a bit of oat bran, oats, wholemeal and fine flour, milk, cottage cheese, erythritol, one teaspoon of salt (too much), and three teaspoons of baking soda. Bake them for 15 minutes at 230 degrees Celcius (maybe a bit lower next time).

Aaand watching QI again.

Cake and QI

Tuesday evening I made the worlds best chocolate cake (mum's recipe, and it ain't healthy!) for an event that took place on Wednesday. The cake pans I had were either too small or too big, so ended up with a small one pluss a bit in a bread pan.

Anyway, that's not what my point was going to be. While I baked I had BBC's QI on in the background, the most brilliant comedy-quiz show there is. I've seen everything before, several times, but it's excellent for just keeping on in the background anyway. Often I've forgotten the jokes from last time I watched. Consider this a proper recommendation! Unless you're one of them that don't like Stephen Fry, then you may fuck off.

You can see almost all episodes on youtube, just search for, well, QI. I'll guarantee you a good laugh.

Food

So, I made pizza for dinner today. All from scratch, with creme fraîche and ham and cheese and veggies and things yummy. And it tasted absolutely..... ok. Really, did expect more taste, it looked so delish in the pictures where I took the recipe from. Well, I thought the crust very good anyway. Will definately use the crust again, for a more tomato based pizza later.

Btw, I hate GIFs. But, no rule without exception.

Mainndarina

The clementines are just about hitting the stores these days, oh joy! I loooove clementines, I can eat a bag a day if they're good. And the smell and the taste of them reminds that it's closing in on Christmas. Good stuff.

Kakemonster

Here's another question: why can't I stop eating chocolate cake? I had chocolate cake today, yesterday, the day before that, and the day before tat. Plus a couple of days last week. And I wonder why I can't loose weight... Pff! Bollocks.

Summer's end

Summer's over, and I've had a lovely last couple of days in the south. Managed to sneak in another fishing trip, on my own this time. I love, love, love, being out on the ocean, the spray of salt water, the smell of seagulls and seaweed, and the wind and the waves playing with the boat. It's such a pity that I don't go boating more often.

Caught me some nice fishies, two mackerel that I threw out again, a good-for-nothing female cuckoo wrasse (rødnebb) that also went back in the water, a cod (torsk), a ballan wrasse (berggylt), and a tiny baby atlantic pollock that I only kept because it had blue spots and I therefore did not know what it was at the time (it's the top one below).

I also didn't know what the ballan wrasse (bottom one) was when I drew it up out of the water. All I saw was a fishy with a spiky back fin that I didn't want to touch, in case poisonous. I finally managed to get it in the bucket, still no tuouching, and off the hook by cutting off half his lip...

When I got back to the cabin, a friend rang and I asked him about the unknown fish, where as he at one point asked me:
"Does it have big, duck-like lips?"
"Like you, you mean?" I replied.
"Yes, just like me."
"Why, yes, it does have big lips."
"Then it's probably a ballan wrasse."

The island

Had me a good walk around parts of the island today. Nice weather and all that, a bit windy, blah blah, here are phone pictures with various filters added.

Continue on in that direction and you'll hit Denmark, eventually.

I fed the ducks...

I found a hammock eldorado in the middle of the forest...

And I picked some wild raspberries. Ate them with cottage cheese and almonds.

Four weddings and a funeral is on the telly and Hugh Grant is about to have sex with that American girl.
I love this place and this cabin but right now I can't wait to get back into town and everyday life.

Ocean

Omg, haven't blogged for over a week. Well, I'm at my parents' summer cabin in the south and there's no wifi here. Phone blogging it is then.

Been out fishing today. Caught a cod, a macrel, and a saithe/pollock (sei). Only kept the cod and had it for dinner.

I'll fix the formatting once I get access to wifi again.

The cod. I forgot to let the phone camera focus unfortunately.

Yum.

Summer

Looking forward to summer. Eating fresh shrimps on white bread with a wee bit of dill on top, picking tiny, wild strawberries, and feeding the ducks. Except that was last summer. This summer I will spend working in a mine up north.

Caffeinated Owl Chart

Tomorrow evening it will be two down, one to go, exam-wise.

Have had one cup of tea, starting on my second cup of coffee today, and I'm feeling like the half-caf owl when I should be striving for the double espresso. And with that I wish myself good luck on my exam on comminution of minerals tomorrow afternoon.

source unknown

I really like owls, even if they are very stupid birds. I once got to pet a barn owl in England. Silkily soft were its feathers.

People

Norway's national day was last week. Fun and parades and hot dogs and ice cream, and then I spent the last bits of the day with these lovely people (plus one more who hadn't arrived at the time of camera-out-of-bag.)

And then we ate cake.
