Storm's end

The storm "Ivar" has been raging the town this evening. A bit of damages here and there, trees fallen, cars tipped over, garbage bins spread all over the neighbourhood, bits and bobs here and there.

All the busses were stopped at one point, which was particurlarly unfortunate as I had planned to take the bus to the Red Cross house at that exact point. Well, ended up running home and taking the bike instead. I have yet to put on the studded tires on my bike, but I figured it would be fine as most of the ice melted away the last couple of days anyway. Biking was no problem, just a bit too much side wind at one point.

I must say, I love the wind. The way it tears at your body and makes you utterly aware of the powers of nature around you. Makes me feel very much alive. Also, it reminds me of Svalbard. Lots of wind there. Picked out some windy and weathery pictures of a few of the people that were in my geography class on Svalbard.

Movie time

Finally watching Touching the Void after it's been sitting on my harddrive for over a year now. Interesting stuff, extreme sports and the minds of the people who do it. Also watched Into the Mind earlier this fall. Visually beautiful movie, bit long though.

Personally I'm not there. I just haven't got the mental nor the physical strength for it, sometimes wish I did however. I would have loved that immense adrenaline rush. Now, at this point some might say go for it and you're capable of some much more than what you think you are. Actually, if something went wrong, and I was already tired and hungry, I would panic. I know this because I did panic, in a cave late this summer, my very own 127 Hours experience. Or rather, 127 seconds in my case. Oh yeah, totally comparable... But let's save that for the next post. It's adding up to be enough text for one post here.

Finishing off with som pics from one of my favourite places on earth, a trip to one of the ice caves inside glaciers on Svalbard. More pictures here. The girl is Katja.

Something

I am so fucking bored. With everything. Nothing in my everyday life is exciting. It's all just routine. Actually, it's not even routine, it's eating and sleeping and trying to find the motivation to get to school and the gym, while trying to tear myself apart from various television series which are all more exciting than my own life. Something needs to happen, now. I've got some travelling planned from New Year's, but where, how, to find the motivation to do anything before then?

Off game

Energy levels have been equal to zero this week, and I've done fuck all. Not have I been able to get up in the mornings (though to be honest, that's not new), I haven't worked out at all, and I have barely opened my school books. Instead, all I've done is sleep, eat, and watch television series. I finished off season one of Orange is the New Black in less than two days.

This is not good, I've seen this pattern before, and I need to get the hell out of it.

In front

Every now and then I'm asked to help out students at Norsk Fotofagskole, and sometimes I say yes. A couple of weeks ago it was student Henrik Fjørtoft behind the camera, and here's a couple of the photos he took of me.

old words

I came across something I wrote two or three years ago, on a plain piece of paper, stowed away in a tiny drawer since then. I love that, discovering what went through my head in the past, in detail. There was one sentence on that piece of paper that stuck, and that I quite like the sound of.

"His allure lies in the ambivalence of his imperfections."

Water

Canoeing in Femundsmarka last weekend was absolutely suberb, even if it was pissing, pouring down all of Saturday. As I said, I can't find my waterproof camera, but I managed to snap a couple of phone pics without the battery dying completely. Maybe I should just buy a new camera, that should make the old one pop up I bet.

Weekend

I'm off canooing for the weekend in a couple of hours, but I doubt there will be any pictures from that either, since I still can't find my waterproof camera. Crap.

Now, off to something complete different. I kinda like being in front of the camera as well as behind. It's fun, you can put on a different persona, dress up, dress down, make faces. The following are originally taken by Janina Lamøy, girl behind Janice Absolutley Photography.

Svalbard

Went rafting today in Driva, with friends. It was well fun! Want to go again. No pictures from it though, couldn't find my waterproof camera and I have no GoPro. But then again, I do already have a huge database of pictures not yet featured on any blog.

Let's go back to Svalbard, where I spent spring of 2012. That's another place I want to go back to. Follow these links for posts about Easter on Svalbard on my previous blog, The low quality blog.

This is from the top of Nordenskiöldtoppen.

Friday

Hey y'all, follow me on instagram @myrull. I've added a new instagram widget on the sidebar here.
Btw, I'm fucking bored. Nobody's available for shite tonight.

As always, let's add pictures.

Quote

I have a quote from Frasier hanging on the wall above my desk.

"How can we possibly use sex to get what we want? Sex is what we want!"
- Frasier Crane -

Good quote.

Here are some pictures.

Foff

I think my two favourite words in the English language are innuendo and fuck, mayhaps more specifically fuck off, which, when I say it, I never mean much harm by it, it just fits to many a situation.

And the way innuendo just rolls off your tongue. Marvelous.

I have a plan to become a writer one day, but not before I am old and don't like myself anymore, and have a lot of life experiences to draw inspiration from.

Now, if you like blogs where you actually have to read (I sometimes do), may I recommend The Tale of Sir Bob? A very well written blog, albeit the updates are rare. He just takes a long time writing and polishing and rewriting every bloody post. I know this, because I know the guy. Oh, look! A picture of Sir Bob Bunbury I found while browsing for a photo to blog about, and then I remembered his blog.

Summer

Had an excellent day yesterday, with wonderful weather, hiking and climbing. I'm such a sissy climber by the way, avoiding lead climbing at all costs. I'm terrified of falling and scraping myself along the wall. Need to work on that. Any tips? Anyone? How to toughen up, substantially? Because I do find lead climbing to be so much fun once I get past that clinging-to-the-wall-with-my-dear-life-using-way-too-much-energy bit.

Let's add some summer feeling at the end here. That feeling of chill, reading a book, and then maybe getting up to splash around in the pool or the water for a bit, and lying down to do fuck all again.

A bigger splash

Loving David Hockney's A bigger splash.

My version. Portugal again.

Ura

Went on a wee one-night camping trip to Trollheimen last week. It was a good little tour, despite that it did nothing but rain and fog on the way down, and partially so on the way up. And I got to try out my little Big Agnes tent, which so far has only been tested in the garden. It kept all the rain out, but unfortunately the construction is so that the inner tent gets wet if it's raining when you're taking it down - as it did. Otherwise excellent little thing.

That peak there, the highest one, I've been there. Was there in april. I think it was that one...

Snug as a bug in a rug!

 And the next morning....:

As I have done before, I found myself in the mountains. There I was, Myrull (cottongrass), popping out of the green and browns. Though I've rarely found myself this wet on a hike before....

Lastly, I quickly discovered that I had chosen the wrong shoes for the trip. Even with nylon socks and preventive compeed, I still ended up with massive blisters, on both feet. They're ok now.
